DUTIES
Lead and manage a team of sales professionals to achieve Delta Dental of Oklahoma's (DDOK's) annual growth and retention goals. Generate profitable new business and renewal sales, retain business, and grow membership on non-pooled commercial group products. Directly responsible for top 10 major account clients. Other key accountabilities include strategy and planning, pipeline management, relationship building and maintenance, account retention oversight, key proposal oversight and management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, Sales, Business or related field. In lieu of a degree, will accept any suitable combination of education, training, and/or experience.
- Knowledge of group insurance profession.
- Minimum of two years previous experience in Customer Service required.
- Highly motivated, self-directed, very organized individual with superb analytical and communications skills.
- Valid Oklahoma Driver's license and excellent driving record required; must be willing to travel and remain away from home overnight when necessary.
- Oklahoma Accident and Health Producer license or ability to obtain within ninety (90) days of employment. Must maintain insurance license once received.
- Highly effective strategic and consultative selling and relationship skills, proven ability to develop effective sales solutions, influence and negotiate complex sales and to create new sales channels.
- Complex problem solving, critical thinking, research and analytical skills, ability to interpret data/reports and effectively communicate impacts to prospects
- Well-developed strategic development capabilities with proven abilities to consistently design attractive solutions, including plan design offerings, based on prospect needs
- In depth knowledge of fully insured and self-funded arrangements, utilization reporting, segmented target loss ratios and margins/risks for voluntary and contributory business.
- Ability to walk a prospect through a rate build and explain the rationale.
- Highly proficient and effective in the preparation and delivery of targeted client proposals and presentations that result in sales.
- Expert understanding of the employee benefits environment, insurance business, products and competitors in the market.
- Solid ability to exercise initiative and judgment as well as make decisions within the scope of authority, consistently demonstrate a proactive, inquisitive approach.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively craft and communicate targeted messages and interact with all levels of stakeholders.
- Demonstrate ability to recognize and articulate opportunities for improvement.
- Team player with an appreciation of how sales related decisions impact the rest of the organization.
- A proven track record of selling to a variety of sales channels, including key, large and mid-size groups and alliances, successfully creating new sales channels and consistently meeting sale quotas is required.
- Must be proficient in Word and Excel and have the ability to learn and proficiently use other computer programs.
- Perform responsibilities with minimal supervision and work independently.
- Ability to protect confidential information in compliance with DDOK policies and Federal and State Privacy and Security regulations.
